ChipAI will lay the foundations of the new field of neuromorphic optical computing.

 
 

And will also enable new non-AI functional applications in biosensing, imaging and many other fields where masses of cheap miniaturized pulsed sources and detectors are needed.

ChipAI addresses major challenges through the development of the first key components of a radically new photonics-enabled neuromorphic architecture. It will use nanostructured compound semiconductor materials with readily accessible quantum properties compatible with photonics platforms and capable of emulating neural spiking responses.
